VAMP 221 Documentation
VAMP 221 is a modular system composed of a master unit, slave units, arc sensors and possible trip multiplying units and interface units.
Master unit type VAMP 221:
- 3-phase overcurrent and arc protection stages
- earth fault (Io) protection stage (optional)
- CBFP protection function
- selectable trip criteria (I>&L> or L>)
- two independent tripping groups
- four-zone support
- arc and overcurrent BI/O channels
- status, fault and trip indication
- covers connection up to 16 slaves
- system self-supervision
Slave units type VAM 10L, VAM 3L, VAM 3C and VAM 4C:
- serve as a link between sensors and master unit
- VAM 10L accommodates up to 10 point sensors
- VAM 3L accommodates up to 3 fiber loops
- 3-phase connection for CT's (VAM 3C), In=1A, fixed I> pick-up = 2 x In
- 3-phase or 2-phase and earth fault connection for CT's (VAM 4C), adjustable I> or Io> pick-up setting
- slave units equipped with one output trip relay
- local indication
- zone addressing (max. 4 tripping zones)
- hard wire connection terminals
- portable arc sensor connection (VAM 10L and -3L)
Arc point sensor type VA1DA
- arc point sensor is activated by strong light which is transformed to a current signal
- signal is transferred via the VAM 10L slave to the master unit
- sensor type offers a very cost effective solution
Arc fibre loop sensor type ARC -SLx
- arc fibre loop sensor is a robust fibre glass construction with different loop lengths which is sensitive to strong light (arc)
- detected light information will be transferred inside fibre loop to the arc -slave type VAM 3L
Portable arc sensor type VA1DP
- provides personal safety while working with live voltage switchgear
- sensor is to be connected to the nearest arc -slave unit (VAM 10L and VAM 3L)
The master unit provides up to four trip output channels for tripping circuit breakers. By connecting the trip multiplying relay VAR 4 CE to the outputs, up to 16 trip outputs can be obtained.
The standard sensor cable length is 6m. Arc sensors can be connected over longer distances, up to 20 m, using the VA1DA-20 shielded sensor cable.
Thanks to the modularity, the system can be flexibly adapted to a variety of arc protection applications, ranging from simple systems with one master unit and one slave unit to complex solutions comprising multiple master units, for instance, in applications with selective arc protection.
VAMP221 suits both low voltage and medium voltage switchgears. It can be installed in new as well as existing switchgears.
